Is it uncomfortable to get dental implants?
The dental implant procedure in itself involves little to no pain. This is thanks to the local anesthesia that is administered by Dr. Jockin to help dull any pain during the surgical procedure. However, discomfort may be experienced when recovering from the procedure with patients experiencing swelling or soreness. In order to keep patients comfortable during their recovery, Dr. Jockin may prescribe medication to help manage pain in the first few days following surgery.
How many surgeries are involved with dental implants?

At our office, getting dental implants involves one surgery. The first step is the surgical placement of the titanium post, also known as the screw, in order to set the foundation for the rest of the implant. The second step will then consist of mounting the abutment and crown.

It’s important to note that this excludes additional surgeries needed in order to qualify for dental implants, known as supplementary treatments. However, this depends on each individual case.

What is the cost of dental implants?

The cost of dental implants varies according to every patient’s particular case. Other things to take into consideration are the number of implants required and whether any supplementary treatments are needed. However, the best way to get an accurate cost estimate is to set up a consultation with Dr. Jockin. After a thorough examination of your mouth, our Lutz dentist will be able to determine what your needs are and how much the procedure is estimated to cost.

Can my son or daughter get dental implants?

Dental implants are procedures typically performed on adults. Depending on the age and state of the patient’s mouth, Dr. Jockin can make that decision. However, dental implants are not recommended for children due to their developing jaws.

I have dentures - can I still upgrade to dental implants?

Yes, it’s possible to upgrade from dentures to dental implants. However, not everyone may immediately qualify for dental implants. If a patient has worn dentures for a long period of time, bone mass deterioration may have occurred. It’s important to seek a consultation with Dr. Jockin in order to determine the state of your mouth and your candidacy.

If I have gum disease can I still get dental implants?

If you have been diagnosed with gum disease, it’s not possible to get dental implants straight away. In order to ensure the success and longevity of your implants, it’s important to get treated beforehand. Dental implants won’t survive in gums riddled with disease. Fortunately, Dr. Jockin offers supplementary treatments that can help improve your chances.

How long does the dental implant procedure take?

The time frame of a dental implant procedure varies from patient to patient and their particular case. For some, the procedure can be completed in as little as 4 months. However, if a patient needs supplementary treatments, the process might take longer. Additionally, willingness to comply with the dentist’s orders, home care, and recovery speed also play a big role in the recovery timeline.
